We are a small family business that started as nothing more than a couple of friends picking up wood for gatherings. Over the years this has evolved into an adventure that has enabled us to supply friends, family members, and local businesses with firewood that helps bring others together. We love seeing pictures of people around fires sharing stories and making memories, and it is the root of what we do. We cover most of central Mississippi now thanks to our hub locations and we are constantly looking to expand our network to get wood to more like-minded people.
This is a question that depends a lot on how much you plan to burn. Some people burn very infrequently and don't need much, and some people like to burn every time it goes under 60 degrees. These people burn very differently and need very different amounts of wood. We sell wood from single bundles up to full cords. Our most popular loads are the full truckload and the half cord load.
This depends on whether you are burning inside or outside. For fires indoors we recommend hardwood only, and most commonly oak here in the South. Wood like hickory, pecan, ash, or poplar is also acceptable but may not be quite as heat productive. If you are burning outside any of these types of wood will be fine, but you could also add in dried evergreen wood such as pine or spruce. We strongly discourage burning evergreen inside as it leaves a thick residue on chimneys and can often lead to house fires when not taken care of properly.
Yes. We offer delivery for half-truckload orders and larger. We don't offer delivery on orders smaller than half a truckload. Delivery is free within 15 miles of our hub locations. Over 15 miles the delivery fee will vary. We currently only deliver within 50 miles of our hub locations in Brandon and Philadelphia.
Yes we do. As part of our business expansion we have begun offering cooking wood, equipment rental, and firewood racks. Our equipment fleet is expanding and we will update those listings as we get more equipment. The firewood racks are expected to start showing up in April or May and we will post listings of those here and on our Facebook page as they become available.
Yes. We offer wholesale prices to other retailers of wood. Gas stations, service stations, and outdoor suppliers are frequent customers of ours and we are always looking for more partners to expand the Wood Man network. Please reach out to us directly and we can work out details for supplier deals.
The short answer is yes. We offer cook grade wood and have a couple of barbecue groups we work with. We don't always have hickory or pecan available and sometime we do have to supply with oak. As long as that is okay, then yes we would be happy to partner with you.
